It is important to research your builder prior to purchasing a home. The Ontario New Home Warranties Plan Act states that all Ontario builders must be registered with Tarion to build and sell homes legally in Ontario. In addition, all new homes must be enrolled by the builder with Tarion prior to construction.
To see if your builder is registered, do a search in the Ontario Builder Directory.
Having an idea of price range, home size and style are important initial steps. Once you have narrowed your list of needs, it is time to start reaching out to specific builders. They will setup an initial consultation to discuss options, processes and next steps.
1 - Are you a licensed Tarion builder?
2 - Do you provide sample floor plans to choose from or can I provide my own?
3 - How long will it take to build my home?
4 - Could I view a current home your are working on?
5 - How much of a deposit do you require prior to starting construction?
